Conference venue

The symposium will be held in Vladivostok, Russia. The sessions will take place in the conference hall of the scientific library of the Far Eastern National University. Participants will be accomodated in various hotels with respect to their personal preferences. See the Hotel reservation section for details. The distance between the Library and the hotel Vladivostok makes about 30 minutes on foot. We expect that a bus will be provided to take participants from the hotel Vladivostok to the Library every morning. See also the Public transport section below. We will meet every participant in the airport upon arrival and will take every participant back to the airport for departure. See the Transport section below for details. About Vladivostok

Vladivostok is the Russia's largest port city on the Pacific Ocean and the administrative center of Primorsky Krai (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vladivostok). If we look at the map, to the left of the city stretching for a distance of 30 kilometers is the Amur Bay, to the right of it is the Ussury Bay. Between them, running deep inland, is the Golden Horn Bay. Vladivostok is not only the eastern sea gateway of Russia. Here begins the Trans-Siberian Railway, the longest in the world. The city is also an important air crossroad. 9,288 kilometers lie between Vladivostok and Moscow. It takes 6 days by train or 9 hours by plane to cover this distance. Today Vladivostok is of great significance for the economic development of the Primorsky Krai. The citizens are engaged in fishery, ship-repair, woodworking, light and building industries. They produce porcelain, metal-working tools. The activities of many citizens are connected with sea transport. A large part of Russian merchant marine is concentrated here. When we say 「Vladivostok」, we also mean heat power engineering, radio-electronics, higher educational institutions, and science.

About the Far Eastern National University

The university is going to be reorganized in the near future to form the core of the Far Eastern Federal University with new campus on the Russky Island south of Vladivostok. The campus is currently under development and its buildings will serve as facilities for 2012 APEC summit in Vladivostok.

Transport

Organizing committee representative will meet every participant at the airport and take him/she to a hotel. The representative will have a board with MTPP 2010 label. Participants will provide with a map and further transport-related instructions at the airport. We expect that a bus will be provided to take participants from the hotel Vladivostok to the Library every morning. Anyway, participants may find useful the information on the public buses given below.
Public transport. There are public buses which you can use to get from Railway station (down the Morskaja Pervaja street from the hotels) to the Far-Eastern National University and backwards. You can take busses of the lines 7б, 7т, 59, 60, and 81. The fare makes 11 Rbl. Planning your free time, take in to account that there are buses number 54 and 55 which you can use to get to the Center of the city from the University and back.

Currency and banking

Euro, US dollars and Russian roubles can be obtained from ATMs with Visa, EuroCard/MasterCard, Maestro Cirrus and other popular credit cards. ATMs can be found in many places. In Vladivostok banks you can also obtain US dollar, Euro or Russian roubles with American Express, Visa, EuroCard/MasterCard at the current exchange rate. Brokerage is from 1% to 5% depending on the face value of the cheque. Banks are usually open from Monday to Friday, 9:00 – 17:00.You can exchange cash for Russian roubles in banks and at exchange offices. Card of a migrant, if applicable.

Please remember that a card of a migrant is an important document. Normally, foreigners get it and are supposed to fill in during their flight to Russia. You'll have to show it at passport control and then keep always with you.
